I'm Clayton Barton, and as you might have guessed, I've got an incredible passion for comic art, not just in creating it but in teaching others how to master it. My journey started with a simple love for drawing, inspired by the likes of Todd McFarlane, Greg Capullo, Marc Silvestri, Michael Turner and David Finch. From an amateur enthusiast, I've grown into a seasoned artist over two decades, diving deep into the world of comic book illustration.

My professional path has been rich with experiences, from crafting indie comics to contributing to video game art, notably for "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD." I've taken on roles beyond drawing, editing comics like "Graveyard Shift," and designing covers for classic series such as "The Phantom." These ventures have enriched my understanding of storytelling through art.

One of the highlights of my career was co-creating "KOZOR: Descent into Madness" with my brother Korey at Barton Bros Studios, where we successfully crowdfunded and published our vision. This project wasn't just about making a comic; it was about pushing the boundaries of what comic art can achieve.

But my deepest passion lies in teaching. Through "How to Draw Comics .NET" and the "How to Draw Comics Academy," I've created multiple drawing courses where I impart all the knowledge I've gathered over the years. I focus on the art of composition, the storytelling aspect of comic book illustration, and the technical skills needed to bring characters to life. My goal is to equip aspiring artists with the tools to not just draw but to narrate through their art.

Teaching comic art is my way of giving back to the community that shaped me. I believe in the continuous evolution of one's skills, often critiquing the industry's tendency towards complacency. My life's work is to ensure that the art of comics is accessible, understood, and appreciated by anyone with the passion to learn.

Every stroke of my pen, every lesson I teach, is driven by the belief that comic art is a powerful medium for storytelling, and I'm committed to passing on this legacy.
